Thrive Together Initiative is a legally registered Community-Based Organization (CBO) operating under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act, 2016 (Reg. No. MKN/CBO/5064/2025). We serve communities in Kyampisi Sub-County, Mukono Municipality, and Namataba Town Council in Mukono District, Uganda.
The Thrive Together Initiative was born in the heart of a crisis. During the COVID-19 lockdown, our co-founder, Giramia Comfert, lost her job. With no income and the weight of caring for her younger siblings, she faced fear, uncertainty, and a future that seemed to collapse overnight. But in that moment of despair, she turned to a memory: the smell of roasted groundnuts her parents lovingly packed when she returned to school. With just $14.70, Comfert bought 3 kgs of raw groundnuts, roasted them, and stepped onto the streets to sell. She had no brand, no stall, no training, just hope.
Our mission is to empower youth, women, and people with disabilities in the informal sector by providing them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and resources to create sustainable businesses. The organization aims to reduce unemployment and enhance the entrepreneurial capacities of marginalized communities.
Our vision is to create a model, inclusive and empowered society in Uganda
1. To reduce unemployment among vulnerable groups by providing practical, inclusive, and hands-on skills that lead directly to income.
2. To enhance the entrepreneurial capacities of community members, especially those in the informal sector
3. To ensure inclusive economic empowerment for people with disabilities, recognizing their rights and potential.
We have empowered 248 individuals, including youth, women, and persons with disabilities, through practical entrepreneurship and business skills training. Our sessions go beyond theory, equipping participants with hands-on value-addition techniques and foundational knowledge to start and grow sustainable enterprises.
We are actively building partnerships with local experts and professionals to launch a robust business mentorship program tailored for grassroots entrepreneurs. This initiative will connect aspiring business owners with seasoned mentors, offering guidance on strategy, operations, and sustainable growth.
We have successfully participated in two market linkage events this year, providing our beneficiaries with the opportunity to showcase their products, gain real-time customer feedback, and learn from other entrepreneurs. These events not only increased
